About Me

My name is Dan Bucci, and I am a runner from Houston, Texas.  I started running when I was 23 years old in 2006 after putting on some weight after getting my first job and eating like a fool.  At first, I started walking 1 mile a day after work, this evolved into a jog, and then 3 mile runs.  By the summer of 2007 I was running 40 miles a week and decided it’d be fun to run a marathon.  My life changed one day in mid-October when I crossed the finish line of the Atlantic City Marathon in 3:52.  Since that day I have run 50+ more marathons or ultras and have lowered my marathon time by 60 minutes (2:52:55 PR).  I have become fairly “competitive” in small local events and have notched up 5 marathon wins and one ultra win in the last 2 years as well as many podium finishes.  In 2016, I completed my first 50 miler in 7:04 and a 3rd place overall finish.  I do this all while running with almost nothing on my feet as I am a firm believer in the benefits of minimalist running.  Recently I have gotten more into trail running, and have just joined up with the Trail Racing Over Texas Team (Team TROT) for the 2016 season.  I am excited for this opportunity and all the good that comes along with it, including some wonderful sponsorships.

When I’m not running, I’m generally doing something low key, like reading, or watching a good show on TV.  I have a wonderful cat named Coors, and a wonderful family in the great state of Rhode Island (my home state), that continues to support my crazy endeavors.

Thanks for visiting, and I’ll see you on the roads, or trails, or any other surface where running is acceptable.
